HealthFive Things to Check Before Buying a Supplement Online
A short checklist that takes two minutes and avoids most of the common disappointments.
Online supplement listings are written to sell. These five checks help you read past the marketing.
1. Amount per serving
An ingredient being present is not the same as a useful amount being present. Compare milligrams per serving, not the order of words on the front of the pack.
2. Serving size
"Per serving" might mean one capsule or four. The serving size changes both the dose and the cost per day.
3. Third-party testing
Some brands publish certificates of analysis or carry independent testing seals. If a brand makes quality claims, see whether it backs them with documents you can read.
4. Guarantee and returns
Read how long the guarantee lasts, whether opened products qualify and who pays return shipping.
5. Subscription settings
Check whether the checkout defaults to a recurring order. Subscriptions can be good value, but only if you chose one on purpose.
